2013 Winnebago Vista

It is being called the “can’t miss coach value coach of 2013”. It is the Winnebago Vista available at PleasureLand RV Center. Today, we’re going to take a closer look at the Winnebago Vista and what makes this Class A motorhome such a value.

2013 Winnebago Vista

The Vista made the cover of MotorHome Magazine this past March. It has the three main features that are sure to get the attention of anyone looking for the best RV motorhomes that Minneapolis, Minnesota has to offer…quality, comfort, and a great price.

The Vista starts with a choice of floor plans that are family-friendly. The new 26HE leans toward the sporty side with Solo blackout shades. The 27N features a new triple slide-out. The spacious 35B and 35F have master baths and guest half baths, and the 35B includes bunk beds. The new 31KE has a u-shaped dinette, mid-coach TV and walk-around queen sized bed.

What really makes the 2013 Winnebago Vista such a great value is the amount and type of amenities that are offered as standard. These include:

  • Electric patio awnings
  • MCD roller shades
  • Large LCD TV
  • Reclining Ultraleather cab seats that swivel
  • Hydraulic automatic leveling jacks
  • Cummins Onan generator
  • Rearview monitors
  • Studio Loft drop-down beds (in most models)

The Vista includes lots of little touches you will really appreciate on the road. These include single paddle latches that offer one handed operation for cargo areas and a handy wash station with hot and cold water, in the service center, to help rinse off sandy shoes or even pets.

On the inside the Vista has a crowned, fiberglass roof guaranteed for 10 years. Thermo-panel sidewalls help provide insulation and sound-proofing. E-coating helps protect steel pipes and laser-cut tubing provides precision joins. The Vista’s superstructure is constructed like no other, and it is built to last.

It also comes with an extremely attractive price.

Boundary Waters By Crossroads

If you are looking for RV motorhomes in Minnesota, stop in to one of our four locations and take a look at one of our exclusives, Boundary Waters by Crossroads. The Boundary Waters by Crossroads is available in six different floor plans! You can choose from a full rear living area or bunk-house RVs.

The three floor plans that have slide outs features wood slide-out fascia. All six models feature designer valances with curtains and mini blinds for privacy. If you have a larger family or want to bring friends on a camping trip, the sofa converts into a bed.

The galley features everything you need to create all your favorite meals, including a 6 cubic-foot refrigerator, a three-burner stove, oven, microwave and a range hood with light and exhaust fan.

For entertainment, enjoy the AM/FM/CD player or hook a television up to the antenna or cable television hookup. You can even listen to music outside via the two marine-grade exterior speakers.

The bathroom features a foot flush parchment toilet, a large sink and a spacious one-piece tub and shower with a curved shower track. The curved shower track keeps the shower curtain from sticking to you while taking a shower. All six floor plans also feature a power vent over the tub.

The 40-gallon fresh water tank and the 6-gallon hot water heater provide plenty of water for showers and washing dishes if you are dry camping. The water heater features a bypass to make winterizing the RV easier if you’re not using it in colder weather.

The Convenience Package comes standard on the Boundary Waters, and includes a smoke detector, L.P. gas detector, awning to protect you from the elements, and four stabilizer jacks to help make set up easier.

The molded rain gutters keeps rain from pouring down on you when you open the door if you don’t have the awning opened. Furthermore, the bumper is hollow and is fitted with end caps so you can store the sewage hose outside. You’ll also enjoy plenty of storage inside and outside for patio furniture, hunting gear and extra luggage.

You can also add several options, including a skylight over the tub, an outside shower, an Arctic package for winter camping and an enclosed underbelly to help keep the warmth in during cooler months.

Stop by PleasureLand RV today to walk through the Boundary Waters or any of our other RVs.

Remember Pearl Harbor Day

If you like exploring American’s history in person, then hitch up your Minnesota RV and hit the road. December 7, 2012 will mark the 71st anniversary of the “date which will live in infamy,” the attack on Pearl Harbor in the early morning hours at the United States naval base in Hawaii so long ago. The attack by Japan resulted in the destruction of 188 U.S. aircraft, the loss of 2,402 Americans and 1,282 wounded. And of course caused the entrance of the United States into World War II. And while RV trips to Hawaii may not be practical, we can honor the service of those who served in World War II with visits to memorials and museums across the nation. There’s an array of online tools to bring history to life and help you plan your trip.

When you hit the road, you may want to check out the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Founded by historian and author, Stephen Ambrose, the Museum tells the story of the war that literally changed the world. Or if your route crosses through the northeast, then plan to visit the U.S. National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Flanked by the Washington Monument to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west, this monument is truly a lasting edifice to all those who served in the armed forces and as civilians.

Did you know that more than 326,000 Minnesotans of all races and religions served in the U.S. armed
forces during World War II? And more than 6,000 gave their lives. Learn more and honor that service with a visit to the World War II Memorial at the Minnesota State Capitol.

Americans have an intriguing history. Have a great time exploring it on the road!

Take A Closer Look at This Model: 2012 Dutchmen Classic

Here at PleasureLand RV Center, we have a lot full of great recreational vehicles at even better prices. If you don’t want to go with new, you can also find several used RVs at here at Pleasureland RV.

The 2012 Dutchmen Classic is a well-made 34-foot travel trailer with two slides. It sleeps up to six people. The private master bedroom features a queen bed. The oversized dinette and the sofa both fold down into beds. This Dutchmen Classic has two outside doors.

The main door is in the living area, but it also has a door in the master bedroom. That way, if family or friends are still sleeping, those in the master bedroom can go outside without disturbing others. The queen bed also has a slider so that the bedroom has enough space to move about.

The bathroom is separate, too, so the toilet has its own room. The shower and sink are across the hall, so that the toilet is private. Moving forward, the sofa bed and the U-shaped, oversize dinette are in a slide, so if everyone has to be inside the RV at the same time, there is plenty of room to walk around without tripping over anyone.

The living area has overhead cabinets for storage — whether you choose to store clothing, games or other things you need on your vacation. The overhead cabinets are over the sofa and the dinette.

True to Dutchmen’s style, the kitchen is a full front kitchen, which gives you plenty of room to cook your family’s favorites. To the left is a double door pantry, which is large enough to store dry goods for a couple of weeks. Plus, the kitchen has overhead cabinets for plates, pots, pans and other kitchen accessories.

The double sink and the three-burner stove make cooking inside easy and comfortable. Because the kitchen is a full front kitchen, you have plenty of space to move around, and you have plenty of counter space to put a complicated meal together.

MiTAC Announes the New Magellan RoadMate RV9145 for the RV Industry

I have some exciting news for the technology lovers in the Minnesota RV world. On Friday, the MiTAC Digital Corporation announced that they will debut their newest addition to the Magellan RoadMate family: the RV9145 navigator. This new GPS navigation product is specifically designed for RVers and will make its first appearance this week at the 2012 International CES® show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

So what makes this “specific” to the RV industry? For starters, the RV9145 features an extra-large high-resolution 7″ display with customized routing based on a vehicle’s profile and driver preference. It also comes pre-loaded with maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico and over six million points of interest. To top it off, the RV9145 comes with the Magellan-exclusive Good Sam Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Directory, which lists over 11,700 private campgrounds.

Though official images of the RoadMate RV9145 have not yet been released, it's speculated that it will be similiar to the 7-inch Magellan RoadMate Pro 9165.

Associate VP of Product Management for Magellan GPS, Stig Pedersen, said, “Our new RoadMate RV9145 GPS navigator is the ideal RV travel companion that can make your driving experience safer and more enjoyable.”

According to Pedersen, the device was designed with safety in mind, as it provides both customized routes based on the size and demands of the RV, Highway Lane Assist, and turn-by-turn spoken directions that let drivers keep their eyes on the road.

The RV9145 offers settings and adjusts routes based on a vehicle’s height, width, length and weight. The customizable route feature picks the suitable route based on driver preference, e.g., shortest distance, fastest time, using freeways, or not using freeways. Its multi-destination routing capability allows a user to plan an entire trip in one route.

Magellan’s exclusive OneTouch™ user interface lets users personalize their experience with instant access to favorite destinations and searches and external devices, such as a back-up camera, DVD player, or an iPod, can be easily utilized through the A/V input. The unit includes safety features such as Highway Lane Assist that ensures drivers choose the correct lane well before upcoming interchanges and exits, and spoken street names and directions that alert drivers when to make a turn without having to take their eyes off the road.

Though they haven’t told us exactly when this device will be on the market or given any screenshots yet, we do know it has an MSRP of $349.99. So stay tuned, Minnesota RVers ! I’ll give you more details after CES Show finishes this week.

RV ABCs: Fifth Wheels

The hardest thing do when it comes to buying or renting a new RV is determining which RV is right for you. For the last few weeks, Pleasureland RV has been going through the RV alphabet in order to help make that decision a little bit easier. So far, we’ve discussed three classes of motorhomes: Class A, Class B and Class C. Now let’s move on to the towable class of RVs starting with the Fifth Wheel.

Fifth Wheels

Description: Fifth wheels are the most spacious RVs available, but don’t let the size intimidate you, they are delightfully easy to handle. They are towed by pick-up trucks with a special “fifth wheel” hitch and generally have taller ceilings and more slide-out rooms with as many as four in some models.

2012 Dutchmen Infinity 3470RE

Let’s see how CampingEarth.com breaks down the advantages and disadvantages of Fifth Wheels.

As with any type and style of RV, camper, or travel trailer, a 5th wheel has its advantages and disadvantages. Its main advantages are:

  • Easy Towing because of the gooseneck hitch.
  • Spacious and roomy inside. A 5th wheel has lots of room inside. If the weather outside is inclement, there is plenty of room for everyone to be inside enjoying the amenities.
  • 5th wheel can be detached at destination which frees up the towing vehicle for excursions and trips around the area.

The main disadvantages are:

  • A towing vehicle, outfitted with a special package to house the gooseneck hitch is needed. Because most 5th wheels are heavy, the towing vehicle needs to be heavy duty. But, on the bright side, manufacturers have begun to introduce lightweight 5th wheels that can be pulled by smaller trucks.
  • The steps. Some people don’t like the bi-level design of a 5th wheel travel trailer and don’t like having interior steps that lead to either the master bedroom that is typically housed in the area of the trailer that sits over the bed of the towing vehicle (although this area is also sometimes the living room area). If interior steps are a problem, you may want to consider a travel trailer or consider a motorized RV.
  • The cost. Fifth wheel campers are the most expensive of the towable RV’s which can make them too expensive for entry level buyers. If you really have your heart set on a 5th wheel, consider purchasing a used 5th wheel. There are some very good deals available on “previously road tested” 5th wheels.

Ready to make a decision? Come down and check out on this beauties! If you still haven’t found the right RV for you, stick around. Next week, we’ll continue with the towable RV class and talk about travel trailes.

Vintage RV Group Holds Summer Rally in Minnesota

One of my favorites sites for getting the latest on RVs is RV News Magazine’s website. I recently became addicted to their new section called “RV News Digest” which is where I found a story about a vintage RV group who recently met in Redwood Falls, MN, for its summer rally. The group, named Greater Midwest Classics, is made up of people who share a passion for the General Motors RVs manufactured between 1973-78. Members reside in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois. There’s even a member from Australia! These folks know all there is to know about the history of these RVs and each have a story of there own about how they came to own one (read the full story from the Redwood Falls Gazette).

Reading about these vintage RVs got me wondering about what the very first RV might have looked like. As I surfed the Internet, I found a brilliant montage YouTube of vintage RVs dating back all the way to the thirties! Check it out!

Are you a proud, vintage RV owner? Come by and show it off!
