Mall of America

Screen Shot 2013-07-08 at 9.39.36 AMIf you’re looking for a fun place to visit in Minnesota, why not try the Mall of America? The mall is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, near the Twin Cities, and is southeast of Interstate 494 and Minnesota State Highway 77 junction. The mall receives over 18 million visitors each year because of its varied stores and unique attractions.

This mall is unlike the run-of-the-mill shopping center you’re probably used to. The Mall of America has the Nikelodeon Universe, Sea Life Minnesota, American Girl Doll store, and other general retail items on its first floor. On the second level, you can visit restaurants and shops. Level three is known for two more food courts, over 20 eateries, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Level four has two food courts and includes attractions like Dick’s Last Resort, the Mall of America theater, and the Hooters restaurant.

When you visit, check out the Nickelodeon Universe indoor theme park on the first floor and in the center of the mall. You can catch a ride on roller coasters and take part in other theme-park attractions. The Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium is located next to this park and is 300 feet long. You will pass through 14 feet of water while you get to see over 4,500 different sea creatures.

These are just a few of the many things you can take time to do when you visit the Mall of America. The mall is open from 10 AM to 9:30 PM from Monday through Saturday, and you can visit from 11 AM to 7:00 PM on Sundays, giving you plenty of time to explore the four floors of this exciting and unique mall. The attractions are always changing, so make sure to check mallofamerica.com to learn more about the events coming up when you’re planning to visit.

BBQ Recipe for On the Road

Screen Shot 2013-07-08 at 9.22.26 AMIf you’re tired of eating the same old types of food, those of us at PleasureLand RV can relate. Cooking on the road isn’t always easy, and it’s sometimes hard to come up with something new. That’s why we’ve brought you this delicious BBQ ribs recipe.

This recipe is simple and won’t take much time to complete. You can use your cooker inside your RV, or, if you’re camping, you can also complete this recipe over a campfire.

The things you’ll need include:

  • Country-style ribs; usually, you’ll want to include two or three per person, but you should adjust as needed.
  • Beer of your choice. You’ll want to use a stronger beer for more flavor.
  • Barbeque sauce. This recipe tastes best when used with a sweet barbeque sauce, but you can choose whichever sauce you like best.

To prepare the meal:

  1. Place your ribs inside a large stock pot.
  2. Pour the beer you chose over the ribs until they are completely covered.
  3. Cook the ribs over a medium-high heat until the beer starts to boil. At this point, cover the ribs and lower the heat. If you’re using a campfire, simply dull the fire or raise your pot higher above it.
  4. Cook the ribs for approximately two to three hours. You want the ribs to be tender, but you don’t want them to be so soft that you can’t turn them when grilling.
  5. Drain the ribs and place them on a grill rack or large baking dish.
  6. Baste with barbeque sauce if you’re baking the ribs. You’ll want to bake the ribs in the oven at 350 degrees for between 30 minutes and one hour. If you’re grilling, baste the ribs one side at a time as you cook them. Grill the ribs for approximately seven to ten minutes on each side, then serve.

That’s it. You’re ready to eat this tasty meal. Let us know how it comes out for you.

Stay Green While In Your RV

Screen Shot 2013-07-01 at 10.47.20 AMOne of the greatest experiences when going on an RV trip is to enjoy the majestic scenery and natural wonders of nature across the country. To keep the environment looking so great, RVers know how important it is to go green. From the moment you purchase your RV from your PleasureLand RV Center, you can take the steps to make every RV adventure environmentally-friendly by adopting a green lifestyle.

Switch to LED lights. If you still use incandescent lighting in your RV, it is time to switch over to LED lighting. LED lights use up less electricity as you will drain your battery and generator less.

Install solar panels. Solar energy can allow you to cut back using your generator. If you have the extra money, invest it in solar panels as you’ll have enough energy to operate all of your electronics.

Eat on reusable dinnerware: Cut back on the amount of plastic plates, cups and utensils go into landfills by switching over to reusable dinnerware. China and glass dinnerware can be packed safely in the RV by placing small dishtowels between each item when stacking them together. If you must go with disposable dinnerware, choose paper items over plastic.

Dispose of trash responsibly. Perhaps the easiest way for a camper to adopt green habits is to keep the environment clean. Pick up after yourself and dispose of trash in the proper receptacles at the RV resort. If you are on a primitive camping trip, take the trash with you until you find the best place to dispose of it properly. And remember to recycle your paper, plastic, metal and glass items!

Shop at local produce stands and farmer’s markets. Nothing beats the taste of biting into a fresh piece of fruit or vegetable at a roadside produce stand. This is definitely the green way to go as you can eat healthy, support local farmers, and cut back on buying pre-packaged food that requires you to throw away packaging. You’ll have numerous opportunities to shop at these stands as you’ll also see savings in your wallet at the cheap prices.

Travel with only what you need. It is true that you should pack all the essentials so you are prepared for anything. Yet also keep in mind that the more you pack, the heavier your RV will be as you will burn up more fuel getting to your destination. Travel as light as possible without forgetting the important items. Just remember that not everything is important.

Go green when you are traveling in your RV by adopting environmentally-friendly habits. By taking this advice, you’ll be able to enjoy nature more.

First Aid Kit Checklist

Screen Shot 2013-05-13 at 9.59.58 AMWhen it comes to safe RV excursions, whether locally or for extended trips, PleasureLand’s inventory of well maintained recreational vehicles along with a selection of quality new vehicles make PleasureLand RV Center the “go-to” place for safety and comfort. While it’s important your transportation is serviced and capable of making a trip, it’s equally important to protect your family with their own first aid checklist.

Kit Preparation

You know the needs of your family, so start with vital items for those with mild allergies to insect stings or for those who have issues with pollen from flowering plants, trees and flowers. For anyone who has extreme allergic reactions to stings from bees, wasps or any other biting insect, check with your doctor before leaving so you’ll have enough medicine and needles for the duration of your vacation in case of an emergency. It’s also a good idea to have a new prescription to take along in case you need to refit the kit.

Basic Items

Band-aids are at the top of the list for blisters on heels and toes after a day of hiking or when someone cuts a finger or gets a splinter that needs removing. Bring along an assortment of band-aids in different sizes to fit most any minor situation. Waterproof band-aids are also a good idea for travelers planning water activities.

Add these items to your “must have” list:

  • Gauze pads and bandages
  • Gauze rolls
  • Adhesive tape
  • Elastic bandages for sprains
  • Clips to hold elastic bandages
  • Alcohol prep pads to clean the area
  • Cotton balls
  • Bottle of alcohol
  • Thermometer
  • Gloves and hand sanitizer
  • Tweezers to remove tiny splinters
  • Scissors
  • Splints

Along with band-aids and basic items, you’ll also need several useful medications along with a guide on how to administer first aid especially if you haven’t taken a first aid course.

  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Hydrocortisone cream
  • Cold and hot packs
  • Eye wash
  • Calamine lotion
  • Poison oak and poison ivy cream
  • Iodine
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Anti diarrheal medication

Pets

Don’t forget to bring an ample supply of your pet’s prescribed medications along with the veterinarian’s name and contact information.

FYI

Keep your personal prescribed medications in a separate, water-proof bag along with over-the-counter medications so everything is in one convenient location. Also, put your doctor’s name, address and emergency contact information in this bag for each person on the trip. Make sure you refill your meds before leaving so you have more than enough in case you encounter any travel bumps along the way.

Make PleasureLand your first stop after putting together your first aid kit and schedule a tune up or service check then ride the highways knowing your family and your RV are a-okay for whatever adventures lie ahead.

Fourth Of July

Screen Shot 2013-05-06 at 12.31.06 PM

There’s no better time to plan a mini getaway vacation than during a holiday event when excitement is high and party-style events are usually scheduled throughout the U.S.A.. With the Fourth of July just a couple of weeks away, this is the perfect time to pack up your RV and plan a visit to a local state park or a RV campground overflowing with amenities and holiday festivities.

To help get you on your way, PleasureLand RV has just what you need from new and used recreational vehicles and pop-up campers to RV travel trailers and toy haulers to bring all of your fun items. You name it, they have it in stock. With a large selection of inventory to choose from, you’ll have plenty of options to suit what works for you, your family, your itinerary and your budget.

Planning Your Getaway

With your RV fueled up, the toy hauler packed and ready to go, celebrating the Fourth of July with your mobile room with a view just got easier and a lot more fun. With an RV, it’s easy to plan an extended vacation over the holiday, a weekend getaway or an overnight trip and celebrate the country’s birthday with your own red, white and blue birthday bash.

Plan your trip by making a checklist of things to do in preparation of leaving and check each one off as it’s completed. Include packing your RV’s refrigerator with plenty of traditional goodies like hotdogs and hamburgers, barbeque and chips. Don’t forget the marshmallows for toasting or making s’mores. Be sure to bring a grill and charcoal, assorted condiments and a traditional apple pie for the July 4th celebration.

Choose a park where fireworks displays will be going on along with festive events scheduled for those staying at the park. Find a camping location in the area where you’ll be able to see fireworks from the comfort of your RV across a lake or river. Create your own birthday bash for America by bringing along your own fireworks and sparklers to set off at your camp site. Be sure these items are allowed before setting them off at you’re camping destination. Use caution when setting off any type of fireworks and keep children and pets a safe distance away when lighting.

However you choose to celebrate, before hitting the highways and byways, visit PleasureLand for an upgrade to your current ride or to add to your personal RV inventory. If you aren’t in need of a new or used recreational vehicle but need your current RV serviced, make an appointment with the professional technicians at PleasureLand for a complete check-up and travel with peace of mind.

Summer Recipes

We all love cooking in our RV. But sometimes there isn’t enough space which leaves you wondering what you can make. Below are a few different ideas you can prepare in your Minnesota RV.

A breakfast fruit cup is super easy to prepare in small places and will leave you feeling good after eating it. The best part is, you can use whatever fruits are in season. Here is a tasty breakfast fruit cup recipe that will leave you and your family feeling full and satisfied.

Easy Breakfast Fruit Cup

2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced

10 strawberries, washed, hulled and halved

1 green apple, washed and thinly sliced

½ cup of vanilla yogurt

1 tbsp of clover honey

Place the bananas, strawberries and apples into 2 bowls. Spoon half of the yogurt on top of the fruit and drizzle on some honey. There you go, its that easy!

Nobody wants a hot meal in the heat of the afternoon. Why not try a cool and refreshing summer salad that even the dads can make?

Cucumber Avocado Fresco Salad

2 large cucumbers

2 handfuls of either cherry or grape tomatoes

2 handfuls of either crumbled Feta or Blue Cheese

½ of a small white onion, diced

1 whole avocado, pitted and sliced

½ of lime

Pinch of salt and pepper

Salad dressing of your choice

Peel the cucumbers and slice in half length-wise. Cut into ½ inch pieces. Squeeze the lime juice over your sliced Avocado. This will prevent your avocado from browning. Toss together with tomatoes, onion and a little salt and pepper to taste. Top with either Feta or blue cheese. Add desired salad dressing.

Everyone gets hungry before dinner so what’s a fast and mess-free snack you can make in your camper? You can’t go wrong with classic Whoopie Cookies! These are absolutely irresistible and easy to make; no cooking required! With a bag of your favorite cookies and a jar of marshmallow fluff, you can make exactly the number of whoopie pies you need. Spread a thick layer of marshmallow fluff on the flat side of the cookie then top with the flat side of another cookie. Voila! You have a tasty, fast snack everyone will love.

And you can’t get any easier than this when it comes to dinner! Chicken and cornbread dressing. Yum! Once you try this scrumptious meal, you’ll be adding this to your list of quick RV recipes! You will need:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

1 can cream of chicken soup

1-1/4 cup of water

¼ cup butter, melted

1 package cornbread stuffing mix

Place all four chicken breasts in a greased crockpot and top with undiluted soup. Then in a bowl, mix cornbread stuffing together with the melted butter and water until combined. Spoon the mixture over the chicken breasts. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.

Find Great Activities To Beat The Heat And Humidity Of A Minnesota Summer

Screen Shot 2013-06-17 at 12.55.57 PMThe summer heat is already bearing down upon the entire state of Minnesota. People are trying to find ways to avoid the oppressive humidity that comes with the rising temperatures, as you can head down to your PleasureLand RV Center and purchase the perfect RV so you can take a road trip to a cooler destination. Here are some ideas for you to keep cool in Minnesota.

Go Shopping: The one thing you’ll find in Minnesota that you won’t find anywhere else in the entire country is the The Mall of America, the largest shopping mall in the United States. It has indoor roller coasters, restaurants and stores to keep you cool and busy.

Find Cool, Fun And Educational Activities:With more than 600 museums found in the entire state of Minnesota, you can keep cool while teaching the kids new things. Stop by the Minnesota Children’s Museum or The Walker as you can see great artwork and exhibits.

Get Wet: There are a ton of places to have watery fun here in Minnesota. Go to one of the numerous beaches with your recreational vehicle Minneapolis, Minnesota. You can also head to indoor water parks such as the Depot Water Park in Minneapolis and the Water Park of America in Bloomington, or head to an outdoor one such as Soak City located at Valleyfair.

Take In A Movie: While watching movies in your RV is great when you are traveling to a certain destination, sometimes you want to just get out and see the latest flick in a nice cool movie theater. With all the great movies that are coming out this summer, you are sure to find one playing at a movie theater here in Minnesota. If you want to combine movies and activities into one, catch a flick on the IMAX screen at the Minnesota Zoo and then enjoy the air-conditioned areas as you watch penguins playing or see the fun sights at Discovery Bay.

Camping Awaits: The one thing all RV travelers can agree on: it is much cooler at the forests and lakes than it is in the city. So pack those bags, rev up the RV, and head out to your favorite RV resort or campground. There are dozens to choose from such as Kiesler’s Campground and RV Resort or the Grand Marais Recreation Area. Choose your campground based on the type of camping and amenities you prefer.

As the heat beams down from the summer sky, the temperatures and humidity can make the outdoors feel uncomfortably hot. You could take your RV rentals Minneapolis Minnesota out on the open road to find a cooler destination in a different state. Or you could check out all the cool places that Minnesota has to offer. Don’t forget to stop for a delicious ice cream cone or a cocktail while on your trip to give a toast to the wonderful summer sights and activities you enjoyed while on your trip.
