Just because you are on the road doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fun of season. There are a variety of ways you can make Halloween special in your RV.
Here are some things you can do to add to your RV fun from PleasureLand RV.
Decorate
Decorating your RV for the season can be fun and easy. Use pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and dried ears of corn to add to the atmosphere. There are also inexpensive lights you can buy to string around your awning. You can use orange and black paper plates, cups, a tablecloth, and streamers to add that Halloween feel as well. Just a few decorations can add quite a bit to your enjoyment of the season.
Take advantage of the fruits and vegetables of the season
Fall brings us a variety of foods that aren’t as plentiful at other times of the year. Squash, pumpkin, zucchini, pears, and apples are all in season and there are many recipes that take advantage of them. Even making simple caramel apples can add a festive flavor. Try using a melon baller to scoop out small round balls of apples and use toothpicks to dip them in melted caramel for a bite size treat.
Keep an eye out for seasonal activities
Some campgrounds will have special events schedule for the season including fall dances, trick or treat nights, bon fires, and hayrides. If they are not available where you are staying, look in the area for local harvest festivals, haunted houses, and pumpkin patches. Seek out and participate in these events in your area.
Organize a get together or even a simple costume party
RVers are a friendly sort and a simple Halloween pot-luck or costume party can help you make new friends and have some fun.
Finding creative ways to enjoy holidays on the road is part of the fun of an RV lifestyle. A trip to a local farmer’s market will likely yield a wealth of decorating and dining options for the season.
Remember, PleasureLand RV is your year round source for RV sales, service, parts, and accessories. We even rent RVs! If you have ever seen the Disney animated motion picture Cars, the story may sound familiar. A stretch of highway, long forgotten by most travelers, struggles to regain some notoriety and relevance. It is the true story of 32 miles of two-lane roadway that lies in southwestern North Dakota. Although the road has no official route number, it has become known as the Enchanted Highway. PleasureLand RV is pleased to present the true story of this almost forgotten road.
It was back in 1989 that a local artist by the name of Gary Greff came up with the idea. Greff saw how superhighways were siphoning off traffic from rural roads like the one that went through his hometown of Regent, South Dakota. He thought if people had a reason to travel these roads, small towns like his would still be viable. So he began to use scrap metal to build larger than life sculptures along the road.
He used farm tanks, utility poles, barbed wire, and augers to create the 45 foot tall “Tin Family” sculpture. “Teddy Roosevelt Rides Again” was constructed out of well pipe and stands tall at 51 feet. He utilized pipe and wire mesh to create “Pheasants on the Prairie,” weighing in at a total of 13,000 lbs. Greff made use of some old fuel tanks and oil well tanks in creating “Grasshoppers in the Field.” In 2002 he again used oil tanks in the creation of “Deer Crossing.” His masterpiece however, is his giant “Geese in Flight” sculpture. This massive piece of art stands at 154 feet long and 110 feet tall, making it the largest metal sculpture in the world according to the Guinness World Book of Records.
A Regent native, Greff maintains the sculptures and plans to add more. In 2012 he opened up his “Enchanted Castle” motel along the route. If you are planning on RVing to the Black Hills and Badlands areas of this part of the country, consider a trip down the the Enchanted Highway. It can make for a bit more interesting drive than that along the Interstates. The Enchanted Highway runs from Regent to Exit 72 of I-94. It is a trip you and your family won’t soon forget and pictures are a must.

Fall brings us a harvest of new vegetables to our tables and a chance to explore new recipes.
PleasureLand RV Center is pleased to share some of these timely recipes with you.
Butternut Squash Soup
To make this recipe you will need 6 tbs chopped onions, 4 tbs butter, 6 cup peeled and chopped butternut squash, 3 cup water, 4 cubes of chicken bouillon, 1/2 tsp marjoram (dried), 1/4 tsp black pepper (ground), 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper, and 2 packages of cream cheese (16 oz).
Sauté onions in large sauce pan with butter. Add squash and next five ingredients. Boil and then cook for 20 minutes or until the squash is done. Next, puree the squash with the cream cheese in small batches until everything is smooth. Return to heat and heat through but do not boil.
You’ll have a creamy, tasty soup that is perfect for the season.
Easy Chili
Here’s an easy recipe the whole family will love. You will need 1lb ground beef or turkey, 1 chopped onion, 1 can stewed tomatoes (14.5 oz), 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz), 1 can kidney beans (15 oz), 1 1/2 cup water, chili powder (to taste), garlic powder (to taste), salt & pepper (to taste).
Sauté the meat and onion in large saucepan until meat is meat and onion is done. Then put in the next four ingredients. Add the seasonings, boil, reduce heat (low), cover and for 15 min. let it simmer. Done!
Spaghetti Squash
You will need 1 spaghetti squash (halved and seeded), 2 tbs vegetable oil, 1 onion (chopped), 1 garlic clove (minced), 1 1/2 cup tomatoes (chopped), 3/4 cup Feta cheese (crumbled), 3 tbs black olives (sliced), 2 tbs basil (fresh, chopped).
Heat oven to 350 and use a lightly greased baking sheet. Put the squash on the sheet with the cut sides down, bake for 30 minutes then remove and cool so you can handle it. In the meantime, put oil in skillet and heat, put in the onion and cook, add the garlic, cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stir the tomatoes in, and cook until tender and warm. With a large spoon, scoop out the pulp of the squash and put in a bowl (medium). Add the vegetables, cheese and the rest of the ingredients and toss.
PleasureLand RV is pleased to be the RV dealership Minnesota can count on for year round sales, service, parts and accessories for motorhomes and travel trailers. Enjoy the sights and tastes of the season!

With its lightweight construction and smooth profile, the 2014 Keystone Premier makes towing easier and increases fuel economy. On the inside, the Premier offers elegance and comfort at an affordable price. And with 13 floor plans ranging from 22 to 37 feet including bunkhouse models, there’s a Premier that will fit your family’s needs and preferences.
Interior
The Premier has 4 decor options to choose from, all of which complement the raised panel hardwood cabinetry and decorative wall border. Vaulted ceilings add to the look and really open up the space, and Trekk linoleum gives you that hardwood floor look. The kitchen features a high-rise faucet, refrigerator with 8 cubic feet of space, and high output range. Smaller floor plans have a U-shaped dinette, while the larger ones have a booth dinette. A Visionary sofa is standard in most floor plans, and larger floor plans give you a fully carpeted living area and add two swivel rocker chairs as well. From here you’ll be able to watch the 26″ LCD HDTV in comfort.
If you like the convenience of having direct access to the bathroom from the outside, you can choose one of the models that adds an exterior bathroom access door. This makes it easy to hop into the shower, use the foot-flush toilet, or just grab something out of the solid wood medicine cabinet while avoiding tracking mud through the trailer. When it’s time to hit the hay, you’ll have a comfortable queen bed as well as a mirrored wardrobe to keep your clothes organized.
Exterior
The Premier has an aluminum frame on top of a 6-inch and 8-inch I-Beam. R-11 insulation is in the floor and roof, while R-7 insulation is in the laminated fiberglass walls. An aerodynamic design along with the quality paint job and aluminum wheels make this a good-looking trailer from the outside. And if you want to cook outside, you can choose one of the floor plans with an outdoor kitchen. You’ll also have the convenience of an electric awning, speakers, and shower on the outside too.
Options
- RV-Q Grill
- 15,000 BTU A/C Upgrade
The 2014 Premier can help you experience all that Minnesota and surrounding RV destinations have to offer. To find out more, visit PleasureLand RV Center.

Many RVers convert their RVs into tailgate machines this time of year. Some don’t even attend the games! After all, with satellite TV and the comforts of home, who needs to pay big ticket and food prices when you can still enjoy the atmosphere and have a front row seat in your comfortable RV?
Here are some tips for creating a fun, and safe, tailgating machine out of your RV:
- Be sure to bring the colors of your favorite team and display them proudly. You don’t even have to buy expensive “officially licensed” products. Dollar type stores have disposable plates, cups and streamers in a wide choice of colors. Just pick out the ones that represent your team and you are on your way!
- Prepare as much of the side dishes and snacks ahead of time. Keep cold dishes cold with plenty of ice.
- Make sure you have something to eat for after the game as well. This will extend your party and give the heavy traffic time to disperse.
- Remember, somebody has to drive that RV back, so have a designated driver available. Of course, it should be someone who is capable of handling an RV. Worst case scenario? Hey, that’s the great thing about having an RV with a bed.
- Using as many disposable products as possible can help make clean-up much easier.
- Make sure you bring folding chairs so there are places to relax outside of your RV.
- Be on the look-out for free promotional koozies. They are a popular give-away item at events and you can begin collecting them for use by your tailgating friends.
- If your RV doesn’t have outside speakers, be sure to bring a radio to listen to the pre-game show on the local radio station.
- Bring an activity like corn-hole to keep everyone entertained.
Enjoy the football season and good luck to your team. Our team at PleasureLand RV is ready to serve you anytime of the year with your recreational vehicle service, parts, and accessories. It is also a nice time to check out our new models in stock. Go team! We look forward to seeing you soon at PleasureLand RV.

At PleasureLand RV Center we appreciate the spirit of exploration. In October, Columbus Day is a reminder of that spirit of discovery. It recognizes a man who had the desire to see what was out there, and followed through on that desire.
Columbus was 41 years old when he made his first trip to the New World and only lived to be 55 years old. What a life it was. In just the last 14 years of his life the explorer made three additional trips, beginning a wave of European exploration in the west.
For those seeking a little Columbus Day trivia, Christopher Columbus’ name in Italian is Cristoforo Colombo. In the Spanish language it is Cristóbal Colón. His Dad wove wool and sold cheese at a stand. In some of his own writings Columbus said the first time he took to the seas was when he was 10. Columbus was certainly not a scholar, but he was ambitious and liked to learn. He was also obviously very curious.
I think a lot of us who enjoy RVing share some of the same traits of Columbus. We enjoy the open spaces, have a natural curiosity, and enjoy learning about different places. We get a thrill out of seeing what is around the next corner, and over the next hill. There is excitement in planning a trip and executing those plans.
So as we recognize Christopher Columbus and his accomplishments, we need to perhaps renew our own spirit of adventure. We may need to recharge our sense of enthusiasm for seeing new places and discovering new places. It is natural, but many times RVers can fall into a routine of going back to the same places, seeing the same vistas. We can sometimes fall into habits that are a bit contrary to why we got an RV in the first place.
This Columbus Day, challenge yourself to explore someplace new and exciting in your RV. Take out a map and throw a dart or let your spouse choose the location. If you tend to go to the same places and see the same things, make a commitment to explore. After all, that is part of the joy of having an RV. Sometimes we just forget that.
If you are ready to move up to a Class A Minneapolis, Minnesota, we invite you to see us at PleasureLand RV. We have a great selection of new and used RV’s and each can serve as your own Santa Maria.

Football season is in full swing. Whether you root for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Minnesota Vikings, or have another team of choice, it is time to tailgate and cheer that team on.
As the RV dealership Minneapolis relies on for sales parts and accessories, we see a lot of purple and gold this time of year. We also get a lot of requests for tailgate recipes. Here are a couple of unique but easy recipe ideas for your next tailgate party.
Grilled Potato Salad
Everybody like potato salad, but here is a new spin on an old favorite. You will need eight slices of bacon, four medium red potatoes (cubed), one large onion (white cut into one inch slices), potato salad dry rub and dressing.
Heat grill to a medium-high heat, cook the bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Drain bacon on paper towels and reserve the drippings. Crumble bacon up. Add the potatoes and onion along with the dry rub to the drippings in the skillet. Coat and then remove the potato mixture. Next, in a grill wok or grill basket, grill the potato mixture with the grill lid closed for about 30 minutes but stir every five minutes.
When done, put the salad in a big bowl and add the potato salad dressing, toss, add bacon, serve warm and watch the crowd dig in!
Jalapeno Mustard Dipping Sauce
Add a little heat to your next tailgate party with this dipping sauce recipe. You will need ž cups of mayonnaise, two tablespoons of jalapeno pepper jelly, and ź cup of Creole mustard. Just mix all of the ingredients together until well blended. The dipping sauce can be served with chicken bites, jalapeno poppers or any of your favorite dipping food.
Enjoy the games this fall and into the winter. If you are already thinking about RV season next year, or are a year-round RVer who may be getting ready to head south, stop in and see us for the new line-up of 2014’s in stock or for parts and accessories. We are PleasureLand RV and we are the family owned RV dealership Minnesota can count on for great prices and quality products. Enjoy the season and the tailgating ahead!

There are some food items that remain at the top of the “A” list throughout the years. Some tasty creations have their moment in the spotlight then fade away, but others continue to shine brightly. One such scrumptious item is an authentic pizza pie with all the toppings.
To show appreciation for this time-honored slice of culinary heaven, October is designated as National Pizza Month.
What this means for pizza aficionados is communities and pizza restaurants in cities around the US will be celebrating with special activities and deals. This is a win-win and, best of all, National Pizza Month runs through October 31, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy a slice.
For RVers, you can take advantage of local activities and restaurants paying homage to this luscious pie or make your own and enjoy with friends, family, and other travelers around a roaring campfire.
Pepperoni Pizza
Ingredients needed for this campfire favorite is 1 lb of refrigerated pizza dough, 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella, 1/2 cup thinly sliced pepperoni, 1/4 cup of your favorite pizza sauce and a pizza stone.
- Place the pizza stone on a grill over a wood fire. Spread the wood around so the flames are at an even consistency and not too tall.
- Roll out the dough and place on the stone. Cook for 10 minutes until brown.
- Remove from the fire. Flip the dough over so the cooked side is up. Spread with sauce leaving a 1/2 inch area around the rim without sauce.
- Add the mozzarella evenly.
- Add the pepperoni.
- Place the pizza – uncooked side down – on the stone. Create a tent with aluminum foil to cover the pizza.
- Place on the grill and cook for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Remove and place on a cutting board. Let cool before slicing.
Backcountry Pizza
- Place dough in a cast iron skillet and cook over fire for about 10- 20 minutes.
- Add tomato sauce, pepper jack cheese, sun dried tomatoes and pepperoni or salami. Let cook until cheese is melted.
Make your plans for an October outing and include a pizza party to celebrate the pie. Before leaving, stop by PleasureLand RV Center for a service check and any accessories you need to make the trip a tasty one.
