Summer RV adventures are some of the best of the year. They involve warm summer days and cooling off in rivers, lakes and oceans across the country. It’s also one of the best times of year to get in the water and catch some fish. These four fly fishing spots are some of the best in the country, so you can catch more fish on your summer adventures this year.
San Juan River, New Mexico
There’s no better way to cool down on a hot New Mexico day than in the waters of the San Juan River. It’s one of the country’s most impressive big-trout rivers, known for sending fishermen home with trout as long as their arms. Catch brown, rainbow, and rainbow-cutthroats one after the other. The fishing gets a bit busier in the summer months, but don’t worry, there are plenty of trout in the San Juan to go around.
Alagnak River, Alaska
A trip to Alaska this summer may seem like a journey, but it’s the best time to visit a state that is frigidly cold in the winter months. Guided fly fishing tours are some of the best ways to go on the Alagnak, because the experts will guide you to the best spots to snag massive arctic grayling, rainbow trout and Pacific salmon. Other perks of fishing in Alaska are the moose, beaver, eagle and Alaskan brown bear sightings that are common along the river.
Bighorn River, Montana
Montana is known for some of the country’s most impressive fly fishing areas, and the Bighorn River is guaranteed to send you home with some massive trout. The waters are highly productive, which means large amounts of insects hatch year-round. Don’t be surprised if you reel in more trout than you can eat.
Colorado River Headwaters, Colorado
If you’re not into fishing with crowds, you’ll love a guided experience on the ponds, alpine lakes and rivers of the Colorado River headwaters. Ten miles of private water provide some of the best catch-and-release fly fishing for brook, cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout in the U.S.

Our state and national parks are some of our country’s greatest features. In fact, each state is filled with so many awesome places to escape that it can be difficult to choose which one to visit. The following three state parks are a few of the best in the entire country; however, we suggest you get out there, visit as many as possible and create an opinion all your own.
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park — California
Big Sur is known as California’s most scenic piece of coastline, but renting a hotel or vacation home in the area costs a pretty penny. Instead, it’s best to reserve a campsite at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, which features two campgrounds for hike-in only camping. If you’d rather not hike-in, the state park remains an ideal place to take a break from your travels, hike and snap photos of Big Sur without backing up traffic and gawking from your vehicle’s windows.
Fort Yargo State Park — Georgia
Georgia doesn’t get enough credit for its stunning waterways, beaches and other natural wonders. You don’t even have to travel to the state’s coast to enjoy it’s stunning natural beauty. Fort Yargo State Park is located between Athens and Atlanta in Winder, Ga. The park features a 260-acre lake that’s ideal for paddling, fishing and boating. It’s also home to countless hiking trails, numerous campsites, bike trails, tennis courts, playgrounds, a disc golf course and more.
Itasca State Park — Minnesota
You don’t have to travel across the country to visit one of the nation’s top state parks. You only have to travel to Park Rapids, home of Minnesota’s Itasca State Park. This Northern Minnesota park is the oldest in the state and is best known for its more than 100 lakes. The park is open year-round for camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking and exploring.

Minnesota’s more than 11,800 lakes make it a hotspot for ice fishing. However, having so many places from which to choose can make planning your getaway more difficult. These three places to ice fish around Minnesota are some of the best of the best for catching fish and enjoying your stay.
Mille Lacs
St. Paul residents don’t have to travel far to find some of the country’s best ice fishing. Minnesota’s second largest lake, Mille Lacs, offers 74 miles of coastline and numerous access points to make your fishing excursions more convenient. The lake’s more than 130,000-acre size also means fishermen have plenty of room to spread out. The lake is known to be home to an abundance of rock bass, walleye, northern pike, small mouth bass, jumbo perch, tullibee and muskie, so bring a large cooler for your catch.
Gull Lake
Gull Lake is known across Minnesota as one of the best fishing spots. It’s home to the annual Ice Fishing Extravaganza event, which is the largest ice fishing event in North America. This fishing spot in the Brainerd Lake Region offers great water quality, which sustains huge populations of northern pike, bluegill, walleye, rock bass, largemouth bass and crappie. Park your RV in nearby Nisswa or Brainerd to enjoy a little bit of off-the-ice action during your stay.
Upper Red Lake
Red Lake is the largest lake in Minnesota, and it’s a hotspot for world-class fishing conditions. Head to the lake’s upper region to enjoy the best walleye fishing in the state. However, don’t be surprised if you reel in some crappie and northern pike too. The entire lake is 288,000 acres in size, so you’ll never feel like you’re fishing in a crowd.

Whether you’re lounging at the campsite or at home preparing for your next adventure, nothing will get you more in the mood for road tripping than a classic road trip movie. Road trip movies have been popular since vehicles first hit the roads, and these three are ones that everyone should watch at least once.
1. Thelma and Louise
Couples-on-the-run films were aleady popular before Thelma and Louise came out in 1991, but this one, featuring two female friends, was different. Thelma and Louise headed on a journey into the mountains in a stylish 1966 convertible. The story gets dramatic when Louise guns down an attempted rapist. The two are then outlaws escaping the law and headed for Mexico.
2. Five Easy Pieces
This 1970 road trip flick starring Jack Nicholson takes you throughout America and its landscapes while giving a deep reflection of the country at that time. Bobby Dupea (Nicholson) and his girlfriend (Karen Black) encounter grungy motels, crazy hitchikers, diners and other Americana as they head up the coast from California to Washington to help his ailing father.
3. Something Wild
If you’re looking for some comedy to get you excited about your next road trip, the 1986 film Something Wild is the one to watch. The film pays tribute to It Happened One Night, a comical 1934 road trip film, but it will make you laugh with scenarios all its own.
Something Wild is hilarious, joyful and terrifying as Charlie Driggs (played by Jeff Daniels) and a woman named Lulu (Melanie Griffith) head on what is probably the most bizarre road trip ever. The characters attend a high school reunion, experience a gas station hold-up and are involved in countless other adventures that turn Driggs’ pressed office suit into a “Virginia is for lovers” t-shirt.

When you invest in a
new Class A motorhome

Allowing weathering to cause your exterior to fade will only lower the value of your vehicle and make it harder to sell in the future. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on products that must be applied regularly if you request professional ResistAll protective sealants from our service team.
Exterior Sealant To Protect Your Paint Job
Start with a protective coating to keep paint from fading and flaking away. The UV rays from the sun and moisture both work to strip away layers of color. The high gloss finish that offers basic protection against the weather, but normal conditions will eventually remove that finish. The sealant protects both the underlying paint and the top coat over it. Sticky deposits like bird waste and pine sap won’t bond permanently with the walls of your RV if you add an extra layer of sealant with our service. Salt from the roads and ocean spray will just wash off the exterior as well.
Improving The Interior
The interior of the RV usually starts to show wear after a few years if you take at least a few trips throughout the summer. Fabric, leather and vinyl all become stained and dull as your family relaxes on furnishings covered in these materials.
Sealing The Fabric
When the seats or couches in your
motorhome or travel trailer

The material will also stay soft and flexible when covered in the right type of protective sealing. Both vinyl and leather can crack if exposed to sunlight without something over it to block out the UV rays.

If you’re tired of staying inside and want to take a road trip, consider one or more of these destinations. Even if you’ve been there before but not during the fall season, take a trip and make it a weekend – or even a week! Be sure to bring your camera.
If you do decide to make it a long weekend or a week-long trip, make sure your RV is in perfect condition, especially the furnace. If you haven’t used it yet this season, turn it on and make sure it works. If not, stop by PleasureLand RV so our service techs can repair it before you leave.
Taylors Falls
While many may thing Taylors Falls is a summer destination, don’t discount it for a fall or winter trip. In addition to the kayaking and canoeing you might do during warmer months, the town also has shopping, amusement parks, dining, exploring volcanic potholes and more. Head over to Stillwater on the St. Croix River, and then make your way out on Highway 95 toward Taylors Falls for some fun and some great photo opportunities.
Lanesboro
If you like “quaint,” then be sure to head out on State Highway 16 – from the north, take U.S. 63 south – to find caves, Amish colonies and quaint downtown harbors. Go through Lanesboro’s historic downtown for shopping, culture, arts, or just to explore the Root River.
Brainerd
If you take Interstate 94 and Highway 371 and go past St. Cloud, you’ll be in Paul Bunyan country. Once there, you’ll be able to visit many amusement parks, eat walleye sandwiches and experience Native American culture and crafts. You’ll also find plenty of lakeside campgrounds and resorts among the 400 lakes in the area.
North Shore
Take Interstate 35 to Duluth to get some great photo opportunities – and continue past Duluth to see some of the best winter pictures along Lake Superior. If it’s cold enough, you may catch iced-over water falls, plus you can stop at plenty of shops and attractions in the area between Duluth and Canada. And, you’ll find plenty of campgrounds so you can stay overnight – or longer, if you choose.
