If you’ll soon be storing your RV for any amount of time, nothing’s worse than coming back and finding that your rig is full of unwanted tenants. From rodents to insects, pests take many forms, but they’re never desirable. Obviously you want to avoid this scenario, so here are some tips you can use if you’re putting your RV in storage to avoid unwanted guests.
Keep Them Out
Physically blocking mice is one of the first steps you can take. Since mice can squeeze themselves through any hole that their head can fit through (about the size of a dime), you’ve got to make sure your RV is sealed nice and tight. Try to keep your doors and windows closed as much as possible and seal them up tight if you’re going to be leaving your RV in storage.
If you have gaps, maybe around your windows or doors, you can try using expanding spray foam. This is a great temporary solution as it’s easy enough to remove once you’re done with it, like when you take your rig out of storage. Make sure to check the underside of your RV thoroughly, as you may have small holes caused by some debris you ran over at some point. If foam isn’t enough, you can add mesh or screens to the mix.
There are also odor deterrents common at most stores, scents that mice and other rodents will want to avoid. You can place these at various points around your RV while it’s in storage.
Remove Incentives
While the incentive for a mouse to invade your RV may simply be for warmth and shelter, there are factors you can control that will make your rig less appealing. Namely, make sure that all food, human and pet, is sealed tightly and that there are no food particles littering your RV. A steady source of food is enough to keep any mice around. Once they settle in, they’ll look to build a nest. Make sure that you have paper and cloth products in a secure location and that you keep an eye on destruction to these items. If they’re missing shreds, it’s likely that a mouse has been pulling it apart. Your best bet, if you’re going to be storing your rig, is to simply remove all food items, even if they’re non-perishable.
Eliminate the Intruders
If all else fails and you’ve got an infestation, you’re going to have to remove them. Traps work best. From the classic snap-trap to glue traps to humane cage traps, the best way to remove a mouse is to trap it. Even if you don’t suspect that there will be a pest problem while you’re storing your RV, it’s still a good idea to set some traps out in your stored rig just in case a rodent comes sniffing around.

Huddling around a campfire with your friends and family is always fun, but campfire games make it even more enjoyable. These five campfire games are fun for all ages, and they don’t require any accessories, so you can play them whether you’re tent camping or at the RV park with your motorhome.
1. Name That Tune
This game is simple, and it’s even more fun if you have a musician in your group of campers. Have your musician begin playing a song or play the beginning of a song on your phone or MP3 player. The first person to guess the name of the tune wins a point, and the person with the highest number of points at the end of the game wins.
2.
Telephone
Telephone is a game that always ends in a lot of laughs. Start with one person in your group and have them think of a phrase. The phrase is then whispered from one person to another around the campfire. The last person will then recite the final phrase. Hint: It is often much different than the original.
3. The No Game
The No Game is played by forbidding everyone at your campfire to say the word “no.” Campers can ask each other questions and make comments to get each other to say the word. Each person who says “no” is eliminated, and the last person standing wins.
4. Charades
Charades is a campfire game guaranteed to make you laugh. Have one person come up with a topic and attempt to act it out. The first person to guess correctly wins.
5. Pass the Ghost Story
It’s not a campfire without a ghost story. Have one player start the ghost story with one sentence then let every person in the circle add a sentence. Make it around your circle at least twice before finishing the story.

Minnesota is one of the country’s best states for outdoor fun. With scores of campgrounds, state parks, and wildlife preserves, there’s always a new area to explore. Take Cascade River State Park, for example. Located just 10 miles southwest of Grand Marais and about 265 miles from the Twin Cities, its office is located just off State Highway 61 at mile post 101.
The Cascade River is fast-moving and cuts through black volcanic rocks and into a gorge, creating a spectacular waterfall. Ferns and moss add to the beauty of the park, growing along the river. The park offers views of Lake Superior along numerous hiking trails that lead through forests of birch, spruce, and white cedar.
The park covers over 5000 acres and is home to a number of species across its hilly terrain, including moose, wolves, bears, pine martens, and deer. Bird-watching is also a readily pursued activity with a variety of birds and hawks native to the area, including warblers and chickadees.
RVers will find a number of RV sites to use, making for a comfortable spot to set up camp and stay for a few nights while exploring the area.
