April is National Grilled Cheese Month, and that means it’s time to turn one of America’s most classic dishes into something new. Try this mouthwatering and creative grilled cheese recipe to spice up your RV meals this spring season.
Golden Gate Grilled Cheese
What you’ll need:
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
- 1/2 teaspoon red chile flakes
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 6 ounces thinly sliced turkey
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
- 1 cup coarsely grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 avocado (thinly sliced)
- 2 slices muenster cheese
- 1 tablespoon cilantro (chopped)
- 4 freshly cut slices of sourdough bread
Preparation instructions:
- Combine the garlic, butter and chile flakes together in a small bowl.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk the egg and milk together thoroughly.
- Spread the Parmesan cheese onto a plate.
- Melt half of the seasoned butter on medium heat in a large frying pan.
- Dip one of the bread slices in the egg mixture. Be sure to coat just one side. Dip the coated side into the parmesan cheese, then place the bread slice into the frying pan (the cheese-side should be facing down). Follow the same procedure with one of the three remaining bread slices.
- Arrange the turkey, cilantro, avocado, and muenster cheese onto the slices in the frying pan. Divide the ingredients evenly, so each open-faced sandwich looks the same.
- Dip the remaining two pieces of bread into the egg, then into the Parmesan cheese one at a time.
- Place the remaining pieces of bread on top of the sandwiches with the cheese side up.
- Cook the sandwiches on medium heat until the bottom pieces of bread are browned (roughly 3 to 5 minutes).
- Lift the sandwiches off the pan, then pour the remaining butter into the pan. Place the sandwiches back in the pan with the opposite side down. Cook until the opposite side is golden brown and serve.

Our state and national parks are some of our country’s greatest features. In fact, each state is filled with so many awesome places to escape that it can be difficult to choose which one to visit. The following three state parks are a few of the best in the entire country; however, we suggest you get out there, visit as many as possible and create an opinion all your own.
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park — California
Big Sur is known as California’s most scenic piece of coastline, but renting a hotel or vacation home in the area costs a pretty penny. Instead, it’s best to reserve a campsite at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, which features two campgrounds for hike-in only camping. If you’d rather not hike-in, the state park remains an ideal place to take a break from your travels, hike and snap photos of Big Sur without backing up traffic and gawking from your vehicle’s windows.
Fort Yargo State Park — Georgia
Georgia doesn’t get enough credit for its stunning waterways, beaches and other natural wonders. You don’t even have to travel to the state’s coast to enjoy it’s stunning natural beauty. Fort Yargo State Park is located between Athens and Atlanta in Winder, Ga. The park features a 260-acre lake that’s ideal for paddling, fishing and boating. It’s also home to countless hiking trails, numerous campsites, bike trails, tennis courts, playgrounds, a disc golf course and more.
Itasca State Park — Minnesota
You don’t have to travel across the country to visit one of the nation’s top state parks. You only have to travel to Park Rapids, home of Minnesota’s Itasca State Park. This Northern Minnesota park is the oldest in the state and is best known for its more than 100 lakes. The park is open year-round for camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking and exploring.
Be sure to pay us a visit at the PleasureLand RV Centers throughout Minnesota when you’re traveling across the state and the country in your RV this spring.

Keeping up with work obligations while on the go may sound impossible at first. However, a number of RV gadgets, designed specifically for traveling businessmen and women, can help ease your worries about meeting deadlines and staying connected while living life on the road. The following are three must-have gadgets for working on the go.
An AC/DC Universal Laptop Charger
AC/DC universal laptop chargers are sold by a number of electronics companies for varying prices. However, you should be able to find a perfectly functional one for roughly $150. The universal charger lets you plug into 12-volt DC power or 120-volt AC power to charge your devices. This allows you to power your laptop while driving without draining your batteries. Your 12-volt DC charger also requires much less power than the 120-volt one, saving your battery when boondocking.
Solio Bolt
Staying connected while boondocking or camping at parks without hook-ups is essential. The $70 Solio Bolt will be a life saver when you need to check your email, but your smartphone’s battery is empty. Simply place the Bolt on your RV’s dash, and let it charge while you cruise. Plug your device into the bolt, and you can have power virtually anywhere.
Kindle Tablet
It doesn’t have to be a Kindle tablet, but the Kindle name has become a trusted one among travelers. A tablet is the device you need to store your media, including books, movies, magazines and more. A compact tablet will save room inside your RV as well as on your laptop’s hardrive, which means you can save your laptop’s valuable space for work. Travelers with little room inside their RVs to spare will benefit greatly from not having magazines, books and movies cluttering the workspace.
Find the Perfect RV
Working on the road requires an RV with the the space and amenities you need to stay comfortable. Stop in and see us at one of the PleasureLand RV Centers throughout Minnesota to find a luxurious, convenient and affordable RV for your life on the road.
