Hosting the Superbowl party this year? Tailgating for your favorite team?
One of the best reasons to come to PleasureLand RV dealership of Minnesota is so that you can have a party-room on wheels whether watching the game at home or supporting the team at the stadium.
You don’t want to be caught unprepared, though, so put these tips to work to prep your RV for football season:
Stock Twice What You Think You Need
If there’s one thing you can be sure of, it’s that bowls of chips can spill on the floor, dogs can knock people’s beers over, and you can never expect “just enough” to be just enough. A couple extra bags of chips or an extra case of beer won’t cost you much more, but it will ensure that you have enough to go around come what may this football season.
Empty Your Blackwater
The last thing you want is to have to wait in line at the stadium bathroom because you forgot to take care of this. Prepare for tailgating or a party just as you would prepare for a camping trip.
Run a Checkup
In particular you want to check your shocks. When you’re hosting a party with ten or eleven people, all jumping up and down to cheer the team, you’re going to be glad you did. Now of course you want to be aware of the maximum capacity of your RV and you generally do not want to go over that, but parties can be unpredictable, so be prepared.
With all of this in mind, all that’s left is the bodypaint and the invitations. With proper RV maintenance and plenty of food to go around, your tailgates and football parties this year should be legendary.

The RV lifestyle is tough without coffee. If you’re a coffee drinker looking for a way to spice up your favorite beverage, you may want to start by buying a French press to brew your java. You’ll want to get a coffee grinder, as well. You can pick these up for very little money at most grocery stores, kitchenware shops or big box stores. You don’t need anything fancy. Generally speaking, one French press is as good as another.
There are a lot of different ideas out there on how to get the perfect cup of French pressed coffee, but this one seems to get a great tasting brew every time.
1. Start the Water Boiling
Depending on the altitude, the water for one or two cups of coffee should boil on the stovetop rather quickly.
2. Grind the Coffee Beans to a Fine Grain
You don’t quite need it to be powdery, but it should be a very light, fine ground. Think espresso-ground, or about as fine as plain white sugar.
3. Stir
When you put the grinds and the boiling water together in the French press, you’ll want to stir it with a spin for a second to make sure that it mixes well and you’re getting all of the sweet caffeinated goodness out of the beans.
4. Time for Four Minutes
Set your timer for four minutes and…
5. Press and Pour
Press the plunger down and pour a cup into your favorite coffee mug. Mix with sugar and cream if you like.
You can switch this recipe up a little by adding cinnamon to the grinds before you pour in the boiling water so you can get the great taste of cinnamon without the little specks of ground cinnamon floating on top of your cup of coffee.
The better the beans, the better this coffee will taste, but as long as you’re grinding your own instead of using pre-ground coffee grinds, you’ll at least enjoy a fresh, strong taste and aroma.

If you’re an
avid
Minnesota RVing
traveler, chances are, you spend a fair amount of time watching wildlife along the hiking trails and in the parks you visit. Wildlife can be elusive, but there are several wild animal parks across the U.S. that make it possible for you and your family to get “up close and personal” with exotic creatures.
Perhaps the best-known U.S. parks are the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Both offer guided safari experiences give you firsthand experiences with the amazing creatures that share our planet. If you would like to stay a little closer to home, you can find a wild animal experience at Minnesota’s Hemker Wildlife Park.
Their 90-minute tours give you a chance to experience a wide variety of wildlife including penguins, pronghorn, reindeer, ostrich, moose and woodland caribou.
Make sure you capture the amazing scenery and wildlife by following these photography hints:
- Use a tripod to hold the camera steady.
- Zoom in. Portraits of the animals’ faces will give you lots of great material for that scrapbook later. If you have a point and shoot camera, become familiar with your zoom feature in advance. Even better, use your 35mm camera with a long zoom lens.
- Disable camera sounds. The beeping of the autofocus or the shutter sounds can startle skittish animals.
- Tour the animal park early in the morning or late in the evening. The light is gorgeous and you’ll see even more animals moving about.
- Stay safe. The animals in animal parks and zoos are still wild creatures. The National Park Service offers some thoughtful reminders about viewing wildlife.

When it comes to planning family vacations, I’ve seldom heard of friends even considering renting an RV and traveling across the country. This really surprises me because I cannot think of a better way to spend quality time with your family than traveling to one or many destinations in your own luxurious suite.
So why else would someone consider renting an RV? How about the fact that you get to travel at your own pace, with your own kitchen and cooking and your own set amount of time spent at each location. Not to mention you can take almost any route on the map and stop where ever you like, planned or unplanned. Sounds pretty enticing to me.
I’m sure we’ve all heard the classic argument for driving a car vs. taking a plane. But I’m willing to bet you’ve never heard the argument for driving an RV vs. taking a plane. check it out.
10 Reasons You Should Drive an RV Instead of Taking a Plane
1. Before you get into your RV, you don’t have to wait in long lines or wait for your seat row to be called for boarding. (Although I’m tempted to try this with the family next time we go camping.)
2. No embarrassing X-ray or pat down. (Tempted to try this, too.)
3. Your luggage always arrives at the same time you do and never costs extra. (Luggage? What’s luggage?)
4. No need to arrive at your RV two hours ahead of departure time – it will wait for you.
5. You can bring as many bottles of water into the RV as you wish.
6. The bathroom in your RV, or the restrooms at roadside rest areas, do not have line-ups in the aisle.
7. The air you breath is “family” — you know how healthy they are. (Granted, this may or may not be a positive.)
8. No need to surrender your favorite knitting needles or other sharp objects.
9. Stiff legs? No need to wait until you arrive — you are 2 feet off the ground and can stop for exercise whenever you want.
10. And there’s no need to rent a car when you arrive – you are already sitting in the vehicle of your choice, with no insurance waivers to sign!

So, have I talked you into it yet? Even if you’re still on the fence, come down and take a look at the different RVs we have available to rent and really get a feel for what the best family vacation you’ll ever take might look like.
